Chapter 2 – Renew Your Mind
So there is some work that must take place to bring reinvention to pass. Renewing your mind is not as easy as it sounds. You must be committed to yield your ways and scrutinize every thought with the guidance of the Spirit of God so mind renewal can happen! Listen to what Paul said:
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24
The most crucial step in “mind renewal” is your commitment to God and His process! You must make up your mind! You need to set your mind on what you are going to do. Reinvention has all to do with what you can conceive, believe and commit to. God is going to change your life – but He must do it in your mind first.
Remember your mind houses your thoughts, dictates your actions and makes plans for the future you. If your actions are established firmly in the Will of God – change has already taken place. When you make up your mind, you are actually stabilizing yourself in God. It is espousing His Will and plans for your life by releasing your mindset and adopting His ways. Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:”
You must totally – with everything you’ve got – submit yourself to God’s Will and purpose. It is necessary to have a made up mind. The devil can easily defeat us when we do not.
Adam and Eve suffered because they did not have a made up mind. They lost out on what God had for them because they wavered in their commitment to God. They were beguiled by the serpent.
In Genesis 3:3, God said, “Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” The serpent used one word to trick Eve by saying, “Ye shall not surely die”. Because they did not have a made up mind, Adam and Eve allowed their minds to be changed. When you have a made up mind, it is difficult for the enemy to hinder your reinvention process. With a renewed – made up mind – victory already belongs to you!
