I haven’t quite figured out what “growing old gracefully” means. I am learning however, that even in this new season in my life, I can still be an asset to the Kingdom. I used to spend time worrying about being too old to make a difference. I thought my Burger Queen years of serving God my way caused me to lose out. I’ve come to realize those thoughts were designed to distract and deter me from being purposeful.
Romans 8:28 says,
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
I meditate on this and other scriptures that help me understand the value I have in being a Reach Leader for the Kingdom. In the past, I spent too much time worrying, wondering and even wallowing in my own pity party. The ministry in me couldn’t go forward if I stayed stuck in would have, could have, and should have. I had to get to the “knowing” stage where doubt, fear and insecurity could not reside.
Today, I understand that God wants to use the stories of our lives to reach, teach and inspire those who don’t know Him. Serving God at this age and stage in life blesses us in return. Our ability to connect with family, friends, and fellow church members is vital to keeping our minds active and engaged. So, do as I did. Embrace this season in your life, stay connected to God and your local church, and continue to Reach – there is someone who needs to hear your testimony!
