Prayer is the Christian’s spiritual lifeline! As Christians, we are called to be a spiritual force and make things happen for God’s Kingdom. When we employ both prayer and fasting, we will grow stronger in spirit – so that we can do what God is calling us to do! Mark 9:29 says,”…This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” When we pray and fast, we can make a Kingdom impact!

HOW OFTEN TO PRAY:

Every day.

POSTURE OF PRAYER:

It’s good to kneel for prayer if you are able (showing humility and reverence for God). If you are unable to kneel, you can pray while sitting or standing. You may also start off kneeling, but end up standing or walking around.

HOW TO PRAY

Overall, look at God as your Father. Talk to Him and just share your heart. Here is a pattern you can follow to help you as you pray. It’s easy to remember – the acronym is P-R-A-Y!

1. P – PRAISE
Start your time of prayer with praise – we praise God for who He is and for what He has done!

2. R – REPENT
Repent of sins you have committed and of God’s commands you have neglected!

3. A – ASK
Ask for the needs of others – and ask for your needs.

4. Y – YIELD
Yield your will to God’s Will. Yield your agenda to God’s agenda for you.

5. After prayer, believe and trust God…and walk in your victory!

Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

SUGGESTED AREAS OF PRAYER

Here are some suggested areas of prayer – but don’t feel that you are limited to these areas. As you spend time with God and in His Word, He will reveal things to you that you should pray about.
