Chapter 9 – Start and Maintain Healthy Patterns

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 1:2

Developing a healthy lifestyle is definitely a “reinvention” challenge! In this day and age when it seems like everything is moving at a fast pace, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed. If you ever get stressed at work, have to deal with traffic or are overloaded with household responsibilities, you are well aware that keeping up with a healthy diet and exercise, in some form, is very hard to do. But it is an area of transformation that you must face!

The Bible has a lot to say about the health of your body. It states very clearly that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19

When you study the care of the temple layout in the Old Testament, you’ll find that the Levites, the priests and others paid extreme attention to and took great care of the temple. This was because of God’s mandate to do so and because it was God’s dwelling place.

If you are a believer, the Spirit of God lives in your body. It is your chief responsibility to use and maintain it in accordance with God’s Will. To damage your body by mistreatment or neglect is really desecrating God’s temple. If you abuse your bodies by shortening its useful life – it seems that this qualifies as an infraction against God’s Word and standards.

As you seek transformation and personal revolution in other areas of your life – please pay attention to your body. It needs to “match up” and be in sync with the new, reinvented you! What happens when you commit to reinvention “health-wise”?

It Glorifies God
Paul stated that whatever we do we’re to do it to the glory of God. In other words, some things may seem insignificant to you but God wants you to use everything to worship and glorify Him.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

It also tells us in Isaiah Chapter 43 that we were created and formed by God to glorify Him. This is our primary purpose in life – to glorify God. You do that when you care for your body and live a healthy lifestyle.
