Chapter 4 – Humble Yourself
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1 Peter 5:6
Reinvention and its process has a lot to do with your attitude and your mindset. Authentic transformation through the power of God can only happen when you yield your ways to God’s ways and place your life in His hands.
If you are going to sincerely enter into a new dimension of your life, you must possess a humble spirit. Change requires humility. You have been doing “you” for a long time – deeply entrenched in your mannerisms and habits. If you are expecting God to change you – humility must break down your well-developed human spirit!
One of the most powerful elements in the Kingdom for mankind is the ability to yield to God. Yielding to God is the key to “letting” Him have His way. When you are driving and you come to a yield sign – it simply means that if another car is coming – you must put on the brakes and let it go by. God is going to show up many times and in many ways throughout the reinvention process. When He does, you must “put on the brakes” and let Him have His way!
When you yield to God, you open up the capacity for Him to fill you. In a surrendered vessel, He becomes great.
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
God can fill you with the elements of greatness! He can fill you with His wisdom and discernment, love and compassion, direction and instruction, revelation and insight, as well as many other gifts.
The more you empty out your vessel of self-centeredness, pride, stubbornness, unforgiveness, deceitfulness and the like, the more God can fill you with His love and purpose. This is something that you must do for reinvention to take place! It’s a character issue and you are responsible for ensuring that humility is in place in your life. It must be practiced, practiced and practiced again until it becomes a part of your spirit. This will open up new avenues for God to continue the work of reinvention.
