Chapter 17 – Become a Giver
Giving will be an intricate part of the newly “reinvented” you. There is a powerful anointing that is present among true givers! It is the very essence of the Spirit of God. God Himself is a chief giver!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Giving should be a natural part of lives that have been transformed. We should want to give because God not only gave to us but His spirit is in us – therefore He is giving through us!
If you think about it – God has given everything for our success and victory in this life and He has given us what it takes to make it to eternity. The greatest of all gifts is the sacrifice of His son Jesus on the cross. Giving doesn’t get any better nor greater than that.
No matter how much we give back to God through tithing, church offerings, missions or by any other means, we will never outdistance His giving. The very understanding of this should take us to the next level of appreciation and worship! And because this revelation has been opened to us – transformation should push us to always celebrate God in our giving for the gift He has given us.
I heard a story of an old preacher that was praying for an ambitious young man. The young man told the pastor that he’d promised God a tithe of his income and he was hoping for an increase. They prayed for God to bless his career. At that time he was making $40.00 per week and tithing $4.00. In a few years his income increased and he was tithing $500.00 per week.
He called on the pastor to see if he could be released from his tithing promise, it now was too costly. The pastor replied, “I don’t see how you can be released from your promise, but we can ask God to reduce your income to $40.00 a week, then you’d have no problem tithing $4.00.”
It is a humorous story, but it does depict that when people are blessed how they tend to forget God. Not so with those that are serious about reinvention! When God blesses you – you should bless Him even more! The reality is – there is a high level of “deliverance” that happens to givers. Bondages are released and power, wisdom, opportunity and experience are opened through giving.
Giving is a powerful quality that every next level believer must possess! Whenever we mention giving, most of us are accustomed to thinking about money. That is certainly part of it – but it is so much more than that. It’s a spirit of giving!
