Intro

Have you seen those shows where they perform makeovers on ordinary people in the audience? They take a picture of the person “before” any changes, and then they take the individual to a back room and release them to a host of “experts” in different areas (hair, wardrobe, etc.). At the end of the show – when the person returns, the transformation is obvious.

The “before” looks nothing like the “after” reality because of the makeover!

Well, God wants to take you through a spiritual makeover. As you observe yourself, there may be many items to address – lose weight, go back to school, overcome insecurities, be more active in ministry, come out of depression or stop being “needy” in relationships – don’t worry, God is an expert and He can cover any and every area. Your job is to take the steps to the back room and let Him have His way!

Now is the time for your spiritual transformation. You have thought about it, hoped for it and even prayed about it – well now it is finally here! Follow us to the back room please!

As we start, at least two things are needed – a good attitude and a good assessment.

Chapter 1 – Renew Your Relationship with God

God’s greatest desire for you is to share an intimate relationship with Him! I John 3:1 states, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…” Praise God! He sacrificed His Son Jesus so that we can be spiritually born again to know Him, not only as our Creator, but as our Heavenly Father! In this lies the beauty of our relationship with God!

The first step of reinvention is getting thoroughly connected with God in every area of your life! Lay it all out, turn over every stone and get all of the skeletons out of the closet. It’s reinvention time: time for a real shifting, a real transformation – a real change!

Authentic and lasting change occurs in the center of your soul. In order to make this kind of spiritual adjustment, you must seek God at a greater level. It’s not that you’ve never had a relationship with Him – but reinvention requires that you take it to another level. The next level in this case is having God’s heart – befriending Him at a greater degree. David was called a man after God’s heart. Abraham was called a friend of God.

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” James 2:23

Both David and Abraham reinvented themselves. They went through God’s process thus cultivating and developing their relationship with Him. As they trusted God along the journey, not only did their circumstances change, but they changed. There are numerous examples concerning this in the Old and New Testaments.

You must be willing to go after the heart of God! Rededication, restoration and renovation of your personal life takes place in the spiritual realm and requires collaboration between you and God. You must want it and yield to God, so He can release and manifest the power for change. This is the reason why relationship is so imperative.
